Using Your Tacoma Bed Outlet Without Killing the Battery

Newer model year Tacoma models have an available 120V/400W bed power outlet. This is great for all sorts of activities, but, if your Tacoma isn’t running while you use it, the battery could be drained. So then, how long can you use your Tacoma bed outlet before it drains the battery?

How Long Before the Battery Dies

It depends. Some things will draw more power than others. For instance, you probably wouldn’t be able to run a table saw for as long as you could a boom box. Charging a phone, tablet, laptop, etc., for a few minutes will probably be okay, but leaving one plugged in all night might not be. Even if your device is fully charged, the charger will continue to draw power. Battery age also affects drain rate.

If you want to keep things plugged in for a long time, starting your Tacoma and letting it run for a while every 30-45 minutes will keep the battery from dying. If you absolutely don’t want to risk your battery dying, either keep your Tacoma running while using the outlet or keep a pair of jumper cables in your Tacoma.

Changing Your RAV4 Model’s Digital Cluster from Traditional Gauge to Digital Readout One of the great things about the Toyota Multi-Information Display (MID) is customization. With it, you can choose which information you want to show, such as odometer readings, fuel economy, and more. One of the more well-known applications is the digital speedometer. If you have the compatible MID, you can switch between an analog gauge-style read-out or an exact MPH number. But how is it that done?

How to Switch Digital Cluster Settings 2020 RAV4 cockpit showcase First of all, your RAV4 must have the digital speedometer with the 7-inch MID. The RAV4 trims that have this feature are: Adventure, TRD Off-Road, XSE Hybrid, Limited, and Limited Hybrid. If your RAV4 does have this feature, then follow these steps:

Press either left arrow or right arrow on your MID controller, located on the left-hand side of your steering wheel Navigate to the Settings screen, marked by acronyms like LTA, PCS, and BSM Press the downward arrow until you find the MID Settings option, listed with a small icon of the Toyota MID and the word “Settings” Press and hold the OK button on your MID controller until the MID Settings menu opens Use the downward arrow to navigate to the Meter Type option. Press the OK button Select between Analog and Digital speedometer displays There you go. Any time you want to switch between the two options, just repeat these steps.

When just about everyone has a GPS with up-to-date maps in their pockets, it can seem kind of silly to buy an integrated nav system. But is it? Is there something about integrated navigation that makes it worth the money?

First and foremost, the integrated navigation system is much more accurate than a smartphone. An integrated GPS relies only on a strong GPS signal; there’s no data usage whatsoever. Integrated navigation doesn’t “lose service” like a phone can. And since the signal is stronger and not reliant on 4G data speeds, it is more precise, meaning you won’t miss a turn because your smartphone’s navigation thinks you’re a quarter mile behind your current location. Integrated navigation can’t be lost like a phone and is harder to steal than one, too. Integrated navigation is also covered under your vehicles warranty. The boost to the resale value of a car with integrated navigation is also pretty nice.

That boost in resale value is a double-edged sword. Integrated navigation can be expensive. Not only that, but since integrated navigation doesn’t use data, updating the maps on your vehicle’s GPS requires a physical device, usually a memory card, to keep up-to-date. As you can imagine, these aren’t free.

Should I Get Integrated Navigation?

It depends. If you travel a lot, then integrated navigation is an excellent idea. You usually only have to purchase updated map memory cards every few years, and it only costs around 1-2 months of phone bills. If you really only travel locally, occasionally requiring navigation, then a vehicle with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility will be more than adequate enough for your needs.

While we always recommend that you bring in your vehicle for regular servicing and check-ups, we respect and support the DIY home mechanic. If you go to the automotive section of your local department store, you’ll be greeted by a full wall of oils, all with different names and designations. None of them tell you which oil goes in which vehicle.

So, what kind of oil does a 2020 Toyota Camry use?

Which oil goes in my Camry?

The 2020 Toyota Camry takes 0W-20 synthetic oil. Toyota has an additive that’s added to their OEM oil, which can be purchased a Toyota dealership. However, any 0W-20 synthetic oil that is ILSAC-certified will work. In the event that you are unable to find 0W-20 synthetic oil, 5W-30 mineral oil will work. However, it must be switched out the 0W-20 synthetic oil at the next oil change.

How often should I change the oil in my Camry?

The exact service intervals are listed in the owner’s manual for your Camry. For the vast majority of synthetic oil cases though, the interval is every 10,000-miles/12-months*. Older Camry models that use 5W-30 mineral oil have an interval of 5,000-miles/6-months. Other maintenance, like tire rotation and fluid adjustments, should still be performed every 5,000-miles/6-months, even in vehicles with a 10,000-mile/12-month oil change interval.

What Does Toyota C-HR Model Stand For?

The processes and ethos behind vehicle names are often convoluted and arbitrary. Or rather, it can feel like that a lot of the time. It can be simple. For instance, Camry is the English version of the Japanese word “kanmuri,” which means “crown.” Sometimes, names are just acronyms, like the RAV4, which stands for “recreational activity vehicle: 4-wheel drive.”

So that brings us to one of the newest and oddest-named additions to the Toyota lineup: the C-HR. It seems like it could be an acronym, but is it? What does C-HR stand for?

What C-HR Means

The mysterious “C-HR” moniker is an acronym. According to the official Toyota press release, the name C-HR is “derived from Compact High Rider and Cross Hatch Run-about.” The idea of a “compact high rider” makes sense. “Compact” is self-explanatory; the C-HR is-dimensions-wise-a small crossover SUV. As the C-HR is also an SUV, it has a higher stance than the average sedan, hence the “high rider” part of the name. “Cross hatch” is also pretty intuitive, as it resembles the dual design philosophy of hatchbacks and crossover SUVs.

C-HR Specs

As a crossover SUV, the C-HR focuses on utility and performance. It has a 19.1 cu-ft of cargo space with the rear seats up, which is in line with a typical hatchback. With the rear seats folded down, the space expands to 37 cu-ft, resembling the average capacity of a two-row SUV. Under the hood of the C-HR is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 144 horsepower and 139 lb-ft of torque. The drivetrain is limited to FWD, much like a typical hatchback or sedan.
