Hyundai has become a hot name in the automotive industry. Along with Kia, the two Korean auto makers have been pumping out some pretty good cars at pretty good prices. This has left my consumers wondering if they should jump ship or stay with the older, tried-and-true brands, like Toyota. Today, that’s exactly what we’ll look at.
We put the 2020 Toyota Camry SE head to-to-head with the 2020 Hyundai Sonata SEL. Here’s what we found.

While many people equate Toyota with tame, family-friendly vehicles, that is definitely not the case. Toyota has a long history with racing, and that is reflected via the 2020 Camry options. The 2.5L 4-cylinder engine is efficient without being boring, unlike so many other efficient engines. The 2020 Sonata also has an efficient 4-cylinder, but it's underwhelming. It lacks responsiveness and oomph. The Camry can be upgraded to an impressively strong V6, whereas the Sonata simply gets a turbocharged 4-cylinder. Don’t forget about the TRD Camry that’s been overhauled and tuned for performance.
The 2020 Camry has done something that many auto manufacturers don’t: they made safety features standard across the board. Want forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking? You got it. What about adaptive cruise control? It’s on every model, so take your pick. Not only that, but the Toyota Camry now has an AWD option for the first time since ‘91. The Sonata only has a FWD option.
Test out the Toyota Camry and see why it’s America’s favorite sedan.
