Toyota’s flagship sedan is back for the sophomore year of its fifth generation! After getting a full redesign for the 2019 model year, the 2020 Toyota Avalon is now available in Palatine IL with few changes to the standard trim levels, but a brand-new Toyota Racing Development model has been added to entice those shoppers a little more interested in sporty design and performance.
Toyota Racing Development has been creating special edition trim levels for several vehicles over the past few years, but this marks the first time the Avalon will have its own TRD trim. Upgraded with a wide array of design cues and performance-enhancing features, it is certainly a great option for those types of drivers. However, the other trim levels are still just a high-performing and packed with technology as they always are, making it an excellent near-luxury option for any drive in that market.
As we mentioned, outside of the new TRD trim level, you still have plenty of technologies and other features to get stoked about in the other Avalon trim levels. This includes things such as the available 1200-watt JBL Audio system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Apple Watch and Android smartwatch compatibility, the entire Toyota Safety Sense P package and so much more.
Plus, the non-TRD Avalon models are packed full of performance in their own right. Powered by a 3.5L V6 engine, the Avalon is capable of generating 301 horsepower at any grade, while still achieving a combined fuel economy rating of around 25 or 26 miles per gallon. Combine that with its aerodynamic design, Adaptive Variable Suspension system, Engine Sound Enhancement, Intake Sound Generator and more, and you’ve got a powerhouse that promises not to disappoint.
