Seeing Toyota Racing Development trim levels get improved is one of the things we look forward to most each year. The vehicles in the Pro Series might not get updated every year, but when they do it’s a sight to behold, like it was this year at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. Perhaps most of all, we’re stoked about the upcoming 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro in Palatine IL.
Unlike other members of the Pro Series and previous iterations of itself, the 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro will feature something new called a Desert Air Intake. It was one of the most exciting things to come out of the recent auto show. The new feature improves the efficiency of off-road driving by enabling air to be taken in from the clean air above the truck, rather than from inside the wheel wells where dirt and other debris is most likely getting kicked up.
In addition to this new Desert Air Intake, the Tacoma TRD Pro has undergone a host of great updates. For instance, it now features 2.5” Internal Bypass Shocks made by Fox, increasing the truck’s lift and improving wheel travel. As for design cue updates, the Tacoma TRD Pro now benefits from an updated white skid plate in the front and a black chrome tip on the exhaust pipe.
Taking things inside, you’ll notice even more great features and design elements. A premium JBL audio system, TRD Pro floor mats and shift knob, et cetera. Two of our other favorite aspects are the Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar All-Terrain tires and vintage, black TOYOTA grille.
