Last year, our favorite full-size sport utility vehicle received a mid-generation refresh. Considering the current generation Sequoia kicked off in 2008, that means it was a decade long generation. What does that mean? Well, we’re sure you’ve heard of the expression “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and that has certainly been the case for the 2019 Toyota Sequoia in Palatine IL. A total overhaul has yet to be needed for the Sequoia because it’s so good at what it does, but last year Toyota updated the style a bit to be more modern and upgraded a few other features throughout.
This year, nothing else needed to get touched up, but that just means that the Sequoia is going to continue offering everything it’s good at. The Sequoia is our biggest utility vehicle, and the perfect blend of pickup-truck capabilities with the comfort and utility of a crossover.
Just because nothing is new, doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to get excited about. We thought we’d highlight a few of the most important specs & features found in the Sequoia that should have you excited about what’s possible in the driver’s seat. For starters, the Sequoia is powered by a 5.7L V8 engine capable of generating a whopping 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. Features like the Multi-Mode 4-wheel drive system and standard automatic limited-slip differential make sure you’ll tackle every job efficiently and effectively.
Inside the Sequoia is where its versatility really shines. Filled with comfortable and convenient features, the Sequoia is excellent for moving people or cargo. Behind the back row of seating is 18.9 cubic feet of space to fill with whatever you need to bring along, even if you’ve got a load of people inside. But if you’ve got more cargo than people, you can drop the back seat to open up 66.6 cu. ft., or even the middle row for a massive 120.1 cu. ft. Now that’s versatile utility.
