When it comes to SUVs and crossovers, Toyota is one of the first manufacturers that people turn to first. In recent years though, they’ve begun to experience significant competition. With so many makes and models flooding the market, how do you know who to choose?

Many modern vehicles are phasing out the manual transmission for automatic ones. Luckily for us who prefer stick, Toyota offers a manual transmission on most of their vehicles. The 2019 RAV4 is no exception. It has the option between an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual. We appreciate the choice. However, the Compass is a little different. It does offer a manual transmission, but if you prefer an automatic, you won’t be able to get it if you also want AWD. If you’re uncomfortable driving standard or just prefer the automatic transmission, you’re out of luck when it comes to the Compass.
The Compass has a respectable 60 cubic feet of storage space available when second row seats are folded down. Which the seats up though, it’s a different story. If you have passengers and cargo, you’ll only have 27 cubic feet to work with. On the other hand, the RAV4 has 69.8 cubic feet with the seats down and an enormous 37.5 cubic feet of storage with the seats up. If cargo space is the main reason you’re considering an SUV, then the RAV4 is the obvious choice.
