The most technologically advanced member of the Prius family – maybe the entire Toyota lineup – is without a doubt the 2019 Toyota Prius Prime in Palatine IL. While very little, if anything, has changed for the new model year, we still wanted to refresh your memory on everything that makes this incredible vehicle such a great option in the compact hybrid sedan market.
Originally introduced as the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid in 2012, the model was discontinued in 2015 before being reimagined and reintroduced as the Prius Prime for the 2017 model year. It delivers all the benefits of the Prius Prime with the added benefit of all-electric capability, so that it can run just on electricity if fully charged for a short time but can also be the incredibly efficient gas-hybrid vehicle you can take on road trips.
That said, let’s dive into some of its more detailed specifications. Picking up where we left off, the Environmental Protection Agency estimates the Prius Prime has a 640-mile total driving range. That means combining its all-electric range – which is a respectable 25 miles – with its hybrid range allows you to travel to Chicago and back roughly 9 times before needing to refuel or charge.
But, how efficient is it during those 640 miles? It has an EPA-estimate combined fuel economy rating of 54 miles to the gallon. That’s pretty incredible, but what’s even more impressive is its 133 MPG equivalent when operating all electric. By the way, you can charge the car in a standard outlet in just 5½ hours, or just 2 hours and 10 minutes at a 240V public charging station.
Furthermore, the Prius Prime is packed with incredible technology, like its massive 11.6” display audio screen and full Toyota Safety Sense suite. If you think you might be interested in a 2019 Prius Prime of your own, be sure to get in touch with us right here at Arlington Toyota!
