2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid vs 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

With the minivan segment in the state that it has been in for the past decade plus, the last thing we expected was for a new player to enter the field. But that’s exactly what happened in the 2017 model year as Chrysler discontinued the Town & Country and replaced it with the admittedly impressive Pacifica. The first brand-new minivan in several years, the Pacifica was an exciting new vehicle. What’s more, is that they introduced a plug-in hybrid version of the minivan the following year.

Surprisingly, the Sienna has yet to receive its own hybrid version, but we wanted to see how this young hybrid minivan measures up to one of our similar vehicles, so we thought we’d pit the 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid vs 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Crossovers are the natural successor to the minivan segment and the reason there are so few remaining, so it’s a natural comparison.

Advantages of the 2019 Highlander Hybrid

While the Pacifica Hybrid is a true marvel in the minivan segment, it can hardly compare to the Highlander Hybrid, as becomes immediately apparent with just one glance at the table above. In the first row we looked at power, in which the Pacifica gives up 46 horsepower to the Highlander Hybrid. What’s more is the huge weight difference evidence in the next row, making that power advantage even more things to the Highlander weighing 589 pounds less than the Pacifica Hybrid.

The Chrysler minivan’s only sign of reprieve comes in the fourth row, where we looked at fuel economy. Unfortunately, one extra mile per gallon combined is hardly an advantage at all. You might save a few bucks on gas in the long, long run, but is that worth giving up all that power AND a seat? The extra seat is shown in the final row, as the Highlander can accommodate up to 8 passengers to the Pacifica’s 7.

If you think the Highlander Hybrid is the right fuel-efficient family vehicle for you, then feel free to give us a call here at the sales desk or simply schedule a test drive right here on our website.
