If you pay any attention to the automotive industry, then you’ve probably noticed one recent trend: subcompact crossovers. Over the past few years, the vehicle classification has gone from just a couple of models to becoming one of the fastest-growing segments in recent memory. Almost every major manufacturer now has a vehicle that belongs in that category, from Honda to Buick and many brands between them. And many of those that don’t yet have an entry have one planned for the future.
Last year, Toyota joined the fray by introducing the long-awaited C-HR. It was a unique, innovative vehicle that bounced around from possibly joining the Toyota lineup to the Scion lineup and back again. Now, we’ve got the 2019 Toyota C-HR in Palatine IL, and we couldn’t be more pleased.
The 2019 model year didn’t see any changes from the C-HR’s freshman year, but that just goes to show how incredible the new subcompact crossover is. Of course, its diamond-like design is certainly its biggest claim to fame, but it has plenty of impressive specs & features that make it an excellent, stand-out option in the segment.
Things like its intuitive cabin, where everything is placed and positioned with the driver in mind. Safety is of course a major focal point as well, with the Toyota Safety Sense P package coming standard across the lineup. That means even with the base model you’ll get technologies like Automatic High Beams and the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. And while it might not win a race with any sports cars, it has a surprisingly impressive powertrain encapsulating a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that offers impressive ratings both in terms of power and efficiency, a blend that’s hard to accomplish.
