The Toyota 86 was a welcomed addition to the lineup after the Scion brand folded a couple of years ago, and it has been increasing in popularity in the years that have followed. While the Supra will return next year as the top sports car on the lineup, the 86 will still fill a much-needed niche in the market, and we’re excited to see its future in the brand. For now, we thought we’d see how it measures up to one of its biggest competitor by pitting the 2019 Toyota 86 vs 2019 Honda Civic Coupe.
To do so, as per usual, we’ve filled some of the most pertinent details of each coupe into the table just below. These details will give us a better idea of how they fare against one another in terms of specs, of course there is much more to these two vehicles than numbers. As you can tell with one glance at the table, the Civic Coupe seems to have quite the leg up on the 86, but we’ll see.
As we mentioned above, the table seems pretty one sided. Outside of the huge advantage in the first row, which showcases the 86’s 47-horsepower superiority over the Civic Coupe, the Toyota model doesn’t have any other advantages. It’s trumped in fuel efficiency, giving up 8 miles per gallon combined, cargo capacity by offering nearly half the trunk size, and it even has one less seat than the Honda. But that power advantage, combined with the 86 model’s incredible style and content more than make up for where it lacks.
If you’re looking for a sports car that’s efficient and spacious, maybe the Honda is for you. But if you want a stylish, powerful sports coupe that’s going to deliver an enjoyable experience every time you slide behind the wheel, then get in touch with us and we’ll get you in the driver’s seat of a 2019 Toyota 86 right away.
