When the Scion brand was discontinued a couple of years ago, the most popular model and the three most recently-introduced models were rebadged and released as Toyota models. The Scion FR-S became the Toyota 86, the unreleased C-HR became a Toyota model, the Scion iM became the Toyota Corolla iM and, finally, the Scion iA became the Yaris iA. This traditional sedan version of the subcompact Yaris hatchback was first released as a 2017 model, but now the 2018 Toyota Yaris iA in Palatine IL will continue to turn heads with its sleek design.
Considering the Yaris iA is still so new, nothing has changed from the 2017 model year to 2018, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting than it was when first being introduced last year. It still offers a surprising amount of content for an entry-level sedan and, of course, the outstanding fuel efficiency you’ve come to expect from a Toyota vehicle in the form of 35 miles per gallon combined.
As a subcompact sedan, some specifications might not seem all that impressive as larger vehicles offer larger numbers. The performance of the Yaris iA, for instance, only clocks in at 106 horsepower. But opting for its 6-speed manual transmission combines with its other performance features to deliver an enjoyable experience behind the wheel despite what might seem like a low power rating.
What’s truly surprising and impressive about the Yaris iA, however, is its suite of features that seem like they shouldn’t be standard on an entry-level sedan. Things like the standard Low-speed Pre-collision Safety System, 16” alloy wheels, 60/40 split rear seats, Keyless Entry with Push-Button Start, MacPherson strut front suspension and much more.
