Toyota might best be known for its hybrid vehicles, but it offers two pretty incredible pickup truck options as well. One of those pickups is the 2018 Toyota Tundra, a full-size, light-duty truck that’s as stylish as it is capable. Packed with great content and design cues, and packing a powerful punch, we thought we’d see how the Tundra measures up to one of the big three by comparing the 2018 Toyota Tundra vs 2018 RAM 1500.
What do we mean by big three? Well, despite the fact that there are several other full-size pickup trucks on the market, many truck shoppers look at the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, and RAM 1500 as the “big three.” The Tundra has plenty of advantages over all three, and looking at the table you can begin to get an idea of just how impressive it is!
2018 Toyota Tundra |
Vs |
2018 RAM 1500 |
---|---|---|
310 HP | Horsepower | 240 HP |
6,800 lbs. | Towing Capacity | 4,650 lbs. |
1,600 lbs. | Payload | 1,920 lbs. |
6 | Seating Capacity | 6 |
Taking a look at the table above, you can see that each truck has its advantages, but there are more in the Tundra’s favor than the 1500’s. For instance, the first row looks at horsepower, which is important regardless of vehicular segment, but even more so in a pickup truck like one of these. The Toyota Tundra generates an extra 70 HP more than the RAM 1500. The advantages carry over into the second row, which shows the Tundra is capable of hauling an extra 2,150 pounds in a trailer behind it than the RAM is.
However, the RAM 1500 does fire back in the third row by offering an extra 320 pounds of payload. So, while the Tundra can tow a whole lot more than the RAM 1500, the latter is capable of holding much more weight in its truck bed than the former. However, both trucks offer seating for up to 6.
