2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid vs 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

While it might not be quite as popular as the iconic Toyota Prius, the Camry Hybrid is probably the second most well-known hybrid vehicle on the Toyota lineup – which is a big claim to fame, considering there are more than half a dozen. Nearly as efficient as the Prius, the Camry Hybrid also offers superior power and, in some opinions, a better design. But how does the Prius’s sibling fare against its segment competitors? We thought we’d find out by pitting the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid vs 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. In order to compare these two side by side, we built a table and filled it with some of the most important specs we could think of when squaring two hybrid sedans off with one another. You can see the table just below, and read on below it for more details.

2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Vs

2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

208 HP Horsepower 193 HP
51 mpg City Fuel Efficiency 40 mpg
53 mpg Highway Fuel Efficiency 46 mpg
15.1 cu. ft. Cargo Capacity 13.4 cu. ft.

Advantages of the 2018 Camry Hybrid

As we said, one of the big advantages the Camry Hybrid has over the Prius is a major boost in power. In fact, the 2018 Camry Hybrid generates 208 horsepower, and that’s also 15 HP more than the Sonata Hybrid. In many cases, when a vehicle has a boost in power it gives up a bit of efficiency, but that’s not the case in the Camry Hybrid. As the second and third rows depict, the Camry Hybrid also offers vastly superior fuel economy ratings to the Sonata Hybrid as well. To be more specific, when driving through the city, the Camry Hybrid gets an extra 11 miles to the gallon. Hopping on the highway drops that advantage, but not by much as it still achieves an extra 7 mpg more than the Sonata Hybrid. The Hyundai can’t even compete in trunk space, as the fourth row shows its gives up 1.7 cubic feet of space. All of these advantages should tell you which vehicle is the right option, so if you’re interested in a 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid of your own just give us a call!
