Aside from some differences in mechanicals, the Prius Prime and Prius have some notable difference in exterior and interior design as well as some feature differences. The 2017 Prius Prime actually only has a seating capacity of 4, which is different than the typical and Prius capable 5 seating capacity. The lower seating capability is due to the larger battery pack. The 2017 Prius Prime also has less cargo volume than the 2017 Prius, by almost 6 cubic feet. On the rear, the taillights and bumper are noticeably different and the Prime's tail is actually 3.2 inches longer to accommodate the larger battery pack.

The Prius has always featured a futuristic design with all the bells and whistles but the Prius Prime's interior design is a little more futuristic looking than the normal Prius model. The Prius Prime features an enormous 11.6-inch screen which gives the interior a completely different look. While they have their differences, the Prius Prime and Prius both offer customers a highly advanced hybrid model.
